Ultraviolet systems are ozone-free air purifiers that use UV light to remove harmful viruses, bacteria, and pathogens from the purification area. Although the mechanism is a simple bulb emitting a certain spectrum of light, UV purifiers are known for killing up to 99% of harmful airborne pathogens

Pros: For decades, hospitals have used UV lights to disinfect equipment, laboratories, and patient rooms to ensure a completely sterile environment. The same technology is used in air purification systems to destroy harmful airborne pollutants. 

Cons: Because ultraviolet air purification systems use a special UV lightbulb to destroy molds, germs, bacteria, and other toxic particles, the lightbulb will need to be replaced periodically.

Bi-Polar Ionizer Air Purifiers

Ionizers work by releasing negative and positive charged particles into your air that bond with hazardous pollutants. The pollutants get too heavy to remain airborne and fall to the ground to be vacuumed or swept away, ridding your space of harmful particles. 

Pros: Ionizers don’t require special bulbs or filters to be replaced and can remove just about any pollutant, large or small, from your space.
