PROJECT
Opening in August 2024, the Intuit Dome is a $1.8 billion arena complex in Inglewood, California, and the new home to the NBA’s Los Angeles Clippers. Designed by AECOM and guided by the vision of Clippers’ owner Steve Ballmer, the arena pushes the boundaries of live sports experiences and sets the “benchmark for global arena design and engineering.”
PROJECT ASK
The Intuit Dome was built with an emphasis on individual experience, sustainability, and technology. As an all-electric arena designed to meet net-zero goals, every phase of development prioritized resource conservation.
"Henderson Engineers has incorporated sustainable technologies like heat pumps, heat recovery chillers...and under-seat supply air distribution, an innovative, energy-efficient system that provides ventilation and air conditioning from underneath the seats instead of from ducts hanging overhead. The HVAC system is configured to provide the seating bowl, locker rooms, and player and coach areas with 100% outside air, creating a clean indoor air quality environment and limiting energy use by taking advantage of Southern California's pleasant climate. Such forward-thinking design is expected to help earn the facility a LEED Platinum certification, the highest sustainability rating from the U.S. Green Building Council."
In coordination with Henderson Engineers, AECOM needed a trusted supplier of top-performing air diffusers to effectively deliver cool, fresh air to each fan in the arena.

AIRFIXTURE SOLUTION
Working closely with Henderson Engineers and AECOM, AirFixture modified its Élan-06R personal diffusers to create a customized wall-mounted air diffuser unit to match project specifications. The design prioritized energy efficiency and air quality, helping to realize the client's vision for a truly fan-centric arena. The diffuser is designed to provide air in sufficient quantities without the feeling of a draft.
AirFixture supplied thousands of Élan-06R air diffuser units. Each unit features a brushed aluminum finish with a clear-coat top and is mounted horizontally to the wall under the seats to deliver air directly to individual seats throughout the arena.
Key Performance Metrics:
- Comfortable air velocity
- Small round diffusers minimize concrete structural impact
- Operates at 0.02-0.1 in. w.c. static pressure
- Quiet operation at NC-17, or lower
RESULTS
The AirFixture sales and product development teams worked closely with project engineers and designers to ensure a cohesive product was delivered. Following installation, AirFixture products contributed to the project’s overall sustainability and fan experience goals.
The Intuit Dome earned the prestigious LEED Platinum rating, the highest sustainability rating available from the USGBC, and Sports Business Journal's Sustainability Initiative of the Year. In addition, the arena is slated to host the 75th NBA All-Star Game in 2026 as well as events for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Intuit Dome’s concept of a fan-first arena that includes ample public spaces and recreational facilities is a design engineering marvel that jump-starts an exciting new era of arena construction around the globe.
